Why Newborn Care is Whitney's Passion

In my years of working with infants, I found that parents wanted more resources during the fourth trimester and a more personalized care plan for their newborn(s).

What led you to becoming a newborn care specialist?

While attending SMSU and getting my degree in early childhood education, I worked at the SMSU Childcare Center, with all ages of infants, toddlers and preschoolers. After graduation, I worked as a lead infant teacher in daycare facilities and as a nanny. In 2017, I completed the Newborn Care Specialist course and fell in love with the newborn stage. With this certification, I am able to provide assistance to the mom with breastfeeding support and postpartum care. Along with extensive knowledge and support of your newborn's care on a nightly basis. Along with singletons, I have extensive knowledge with multiples and infants with disabilities. My plan for every family is to assist them with their newborn goals, their own postpartum goals and to support their family.

What's your background?

The longer I have worked with clients, I found that the need for more postpartum resources were needed. I have been in the fitness space for many years and realized that parents want something to help them get back to where they want to be.

Why did you start offering postpartum fitness services?

Whitney came to our home on a night that our baby was extremely fussy. She provided a calm and reassuring presence that enabled us to get much-needed rest, and we are very thankful for her help during a difficult time.

Whitney was great! Knowledgeable and I could rest easy knowing she was there.

Whitney is knowledgeable about babies in general but especially twins. Her start was with a twin family, and her advice is so practical. She taught me the best way to tandem bottle feed, saving us lots of time and frustrated/crying babies. We discussed the pros and cons of tandem breastfeeding. She discussed normal baby behaviors along with what to expect as they age. Whitney has an affinity for babies and does so well with my twins. I never felt I couldn’t ask Whitney a question. She is so well trained that she even watched me walk up the stairs during the house tour looking for pain from my c section. She checks in with me on sleep, stress, and depression to make sure I am thriving, not just surviving. I’m exclusively pumping, and she has my supplies ready and bags labeled to get me back to sleep as soon as possible. She allows me to observe her feeding and working with the twins while I pump to allow me to be the best mom possible. This fact makes her worth every dime in and of itself. I would recommend her to any family with a new addition that needs help like we did

Whitney is an absolute superstar! She took care of our twins from birth and trained them to sleep through the night, from 7:00pm to 7:00am, by the time they were 5 months old. They are now 21 months old and one of the boys has only been up once in the middle of the night since then, and the other twin never has. She’s been a calming presence in our household and our twins love and respond to her magnificently. We are incredibly grateful to have had Whitney work with us and give the highest recommendation for anyone thinking of hiring an NCS
